The Global Village started 2017 with a lively workshop on origami. Iwate U. students involved in the SCIP Program designed and conducted the event, while practicing how to introduce Japan's beloved paper folding art to children and adults in both English and Japanese. Participants learned about origami's origins, and made colorful shuriken (ninja throwing stars) and a frog that can actually hop!
新年最初のグローバルビレッジは折り纸ワークショップで始まりました。フィリピンへの海外研修渡航を前にした岩手大学の日本人学生が、留学生や地域の子どもたちに英语で折り纸について説明し、皆で手里剣やぴょんぴょんがえるを折りました。様々な年齢の参加者が日本语と英语で日本の伝统的な游びを楽しみ、日本人学生にとっては英语で折り纸を説明する大変よい学びの机会となりました。
Our next event will be an English practice presentation run by SCIP students bound for Accedemia di Belle Arti di Carrara, Italy. Featured are the presenters' own artworks: bamboo mizuhiki wine bottle ornamentation, a wax-laden mini treasure chest made from locally produced washi, and a washi and ink lampshade inspired by the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.
次回のイベントはイタリアに海外研修へ行く学生が、竹细工の水引や和纸の宝石箱など、自作の芸术作品を持ち寄り、英语でその説明を试みます。
