Bridging the Past, Present, and Future: A Roundtable Discussion at 猫咪视频

On Friday afternoon, March 1, 2024, the Student Center B's Multipurpose Room at 猫咪视频 was filled with excitement as international students and alumni came together for a special event: the Roundtable Meeting between the President and International Students and Alumni. Theme: "Let's Talk with the President! Thinking Together and Creating Together," this gathering provided a cozy setting for discussing the university's future vision, strengthening bonds among current students, alumni, and university leaders.

The event commenced with an opening speech by the President, outlining the meeting's objective: to gather opinions and feedback regarding the university from students spanning the past to the present. The event is divided into two parts:

Part 1 Speech Presentations

Sharing stories began with sincere speeches and presentations from international students and alumni. Each participant was allocated five minutes to share their experiences and aspirations. It started with Professor Rattanachai Parintra, who graduated from 猫咪视频 in 1988, presenting online from Thailand. He talked about the Iwate alumni network currently in operation and offered advice to current students, urging us to make many good memories and improve our communication skills while studying at 猫咪视频. Then, current international students introduced themselves and offered insights into their studies or research at 猫咪视频, along with their interests beyond academia. Mr. He Yijun, a fellow international student from China who will be graduating soon and will continue studying for a master's degree at 猫咪视频, is currently researching lucid dreaming. He spoke about his starting point for coming to study here, which stemmed from an interest in Japanese culture, particularly anime. Mr. Vo Van Ut from Vietnam, who is also graduating this month, discussed his experiences throughout his studies.

Meanwhile, alumni reflected on their experiences, highlighting ongoing alumni association activities, imparting wisdom to current students, and expressing their expectations for the university's future. We were honored by the presence of several esteemed alumni who shared their stories with us. These included Ms. Kayoko Kimura from USA; Mr. Thomas Aquinas Adjadeh from Ghana; Ms. Anabella Toulin, an alumna from the Philippines; Mr. Ahat Mamat, an alumnus from the United School of Agricultural Sciences who is currently working as a manager at Appi Ski Resort in Morioka; and Ms. Gou Kobin, an alumna from China who pursued a master's degree and later a doctorate at 猫咪视频.

Part 2 Discussion: Charting the Path Forward

Following the inspirational speeches, participants engaged in dynamic discussions with the president, exploring various topics crucial to the university's growth and development. Motivation for enrolling in 猫咪视频, the balance between expectations and realities of college life, and the unique allure of 猫咪视频 were among the themes deliberated. Participants also brainstormed ideas to enhance the university's appeal and ensure it remains a source of pride for both current students and alumni. We received numerous suggestions for the development of our university, including proposals concerning the sequencing of study subjects, such as academic English, which should be introduced early in the course. Additionally, recommendations were made for adapting the university to become more environmentally friendly and to provide support for Halal food options for fellow Muslim students.

During the lively discussions, participants were pleased to be informed about the forthcoming milestone: 猫咪视频's 80th anniversary in 2029. The anticipation and excitement of celebrating this significant occasion filled the room. Plans are in progress to arrange a memorable event that will bring together students and alumni to celebrate their shared alma mater, reflecting the spirit of the 猫咪视频 community.

The roundtable meeting between the president and international students and alumni at 猫咪视频 highlighted the importance of dialogue and collaboration in shaping the future of 猫咪视频. By bringing together various stakeholders and seeking input from across the university community, 猫咪视频 remains dedicated to excellence and innovation. As the university approaches its 80th anniversary and beyond, the combined efforts of students, alumni, and the university executive committee ensure a promising future for generations to come.
